Kennihan Throws Shutout As Wildcats Defeats Chapel Hill

Geena Kennihan didn’t allow a single run as Wildcats defeated Chapel Hill 25-0 on Wednesday. Kennihan allowed just two hits and struck out Tiger Anna Rogers to end the game.

Violet Kehoe led Wildcats to victory by driving in seven runs. Three of her RBI’s came in her first at bat in the 2nd inning when she knocked a home run over the fence in left center. She also drove in runs on a sacrifice fly and a single.

One bright spot for Chapel Hill was a single by Kenzie Kopec in the first inning.

Geena Kennihan earned the win for Wildcats. She threw three innings, allowed no runs, only two hits, struck out two, and walked just one. Emilee Lancaster took the loss for Chapel Hill. She tossed two-thirds of an inning, allowing 12 runs, and six hits.

Home runs for Wildcats came when Grace Vincent homered in the first inning and Kehoe homered in the second. Both were of the 3-run variety.

Kayla Characklis led Wildcats with four hits in four at bats. The Wildcats had 15 hits in the game. Characklis, Kehoe, Vincent, Claire Pedersen, and Katie Characklis each collected multiple hits for Wildcats.

The Wildcats stole nine bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Claire Pedersen led the way with three.

East was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error.
