Wildcats News · WLAX – STATE CHAMPIONS!!!


The Wildcats defeated Weddington 14-8 in the 2021 NCHSAA Open Classification Women’s Lacrosse Championship held on March 27, 2021 at Cardinal Gibbons High School in Raleigh.

Talia Zuco was named the Championship MVP and led all scorers with 5 goals.
Sophie Halus and Riley Ellis each had hat tricks as East pulled away in the first half
to a 8-3 lead.

Riley Akos won East’s Sportsmanship award in a pre-game ceremony.

At the 15:22 mark in the second half, with East ahead 12-6, the match was delayed a a pair of thunderstorms rolled through the area.
After a two and a half hour delay the teams returned to the pitch to finish.
East netted two more goals before Weddington added its final pair in the waning moments.
