Wildcats’s Kennihan Throws No-Hitter To Defeat Riverside-Durham

Geena Kennihan didn’t allow a single hit as Wildcats defeated Riverside-Durham 20-0 on Thursday. To get the final out Kennihan struck out #15, D. May.

Wildcats secured the victory thanks to 13 runs in the first inning. Wildcats’s offense in the inning came from singles by Claire Pedersen, Katie Characklis, Kayla Characklis, Shelby Swanson, and Characklis, a walk by Pedersen, a triple by Grace Vincent, and an error on a ball put in play by Katie Agatucci.

Kennihan led things off on the rubber for Wildcats. She went three innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits, striking out six. The lone baserunner allowed reached on error.

Janae Howell toed the rubber for Riverside-Durham. She surrendered 20 runs on 19 hits over three innings, striking out three.

Wildcats tallied 19 hits on the day. Characklis, Characklis, Pedersen, Swanson, Vincent, Kennihan, and Agatucci each had multiple hits for Wildcats. Characklis led Wildcats with three hits in three at bats. Wildcats didn’t commit a single error in the field. Characklis had the most chances in the field with seven. Pedersen led Wildcats with four stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with seven stolen bases.
