Senior Day Nearly Perfect for Wildcats
The Wildcats celebrated six seniors and had a quick 3 inning win over Chapel Hill, 23-0.
Katie Agatucci was the winning pitcher with a No Hit Shutout. She faced the minimum batters, striking out six and walking one. That lone baserunner was then part of the game ending strikeout-caught stealing double play. Fly outs to short and right were the other two putouts.
The Wildcats got on the board in the first inning as Claire Pedersen parlayed her first single of the day into a run on a passed ball. With Violet Kehoe on base Agatucci put one over the fence for a 2 RBI dinger, her 7th home run of the season. Grace Vincent and Pedersen both had 3 hits in the game. Agatucci, Kehoe, Elle Pedersen and Kayla Characklis all tallied a pair of hits that drove the Wildcats offense.
East’s win wrapped the regular season. They finished 14-7 overall with a 12-2 Big-8 conference record which put them squarely in second place, good enough for an automatic bid to the NCHSAA Championship Tournament that starts W May 9th.
