Early Lead For Southern Alamance Seals Fate For Wildcats
Wildcats didn’t get a baserunner for 2 1/3 innings and couldn’t bounce back from the Patriots 3 run second inning a 5-0 loss at Southern Alamance on Friday. Southern Alamance scored in the second inning on a pair of singles followed by a passed ball and a pair of 6-3 groundouts. Patriot DP, Sid Martin, added a run with a shot over the right-center fence for a solo home run.
One bright spot for the Wildcats was senior shortstop Grace Vincent. Along with notching one of the two Wildcat hits on night the she was also played error-free and was responsible for 7 defensive assists, many denying SA infield single opportunities.
Isley Duggins was masterful in the circle for Southern Alamance. She threw seven shutout innings allowing only two hits while striking out 12. Although East was able to put runners in scoring position in each of the final 5 innings Duggins control, coupled with the Patriots stingy defense, kept the ‘Cats off the scoreboard.
Katie Agatucci threw the complete game for the Wildcats. She gave up the five runs on seven hits over six innings, striking out two. Vincent and freshman Sydney Lang each collected one hit to lead Wildcats. Freshman outfielder, Shelby Swanson, collected her first career put out with a catch in right field.
